BC Speed Skating Academy

The Academy is targeted to skaters who are eligible for the 2019 Canada Winter Games. Topics covered at the Academy will include speed skating technique, speed work, tactics and group skating, and team events (relays).  The comprehensive on/off-ice program complements current club programming.  The half day program runs Fall/Winter 2 times per month.  Please contact chris.acton@speed-skating.bc.ca  for information or to participate in this BCSSA program.

Talent Development Camp

The Talent Development Camps are an initiative to bring together selected “Training to Train” and “Learning to Compete” athletes in a centralized setting to work with Regional Development Mentors and training centre coaches.

Consistent engagement in deliberate practice is necessary for the development of expertise.  With this in mind the Talent Development Camps have a primary focus of developing consistent skating technique with selected athletes at a stage when this will have a maximum positive impact.  The engagement of club and provincial coaches is a secondary goal of the camp to provide for a consistent approach with the skater throughout the year.

 Club Development Camp

The Club Development Camps are an open development opportunity for club speed skaters 9-14 years old who participate in a competitive stream at the local or regional level.  The goal is to provide development opportunities for Learning to Train and Training to Train skaters who wish to maximize their skating potential.  On and off ice learning and development opportunities are provided.  Skaters will skate on the 100m track for these camps.
